Individual Therapy

We start therapy with everyone by asking three basic questions: What are you doing to cope with your stressors? What makes your stressors worse? and What do you want to be different? This helps to create a map of where you want to be and how to get there. Depending on what is needed, this may include skills around communication, relaxation, combating negative thoughts, or letting go of unhealthy habits. We will communicate with the other members of your healthcare team with your permission and may recommend other community resources or providers.

Couples Therapy

We utilize Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Non-Violent Communication for couples. In therapy you will learn what each other needs, wants, and appreciates about one another. You will practice communicating in a way that helps each other feel heard and cared for versus defensive or resentful. You will have the opportunity to process past hurt and find a path forward that is healthy for both of you individually and together.

The transition from being a new clinician under supervision to practicing independently can be exciting but at times jolting. Before when you had a complex question, you always knew who and when to ask. Now, you are more confident in your therapeutic abilities but may still feel unsure with a case you haven't experienced yet. Having trusted colleagues is invaluable but there may be times you need a more seasoned perspective.

Kimberly Valdez, LCSW-S offers consultation services for clinicians of all experience levels. Consultation can be a one time phone call or a series of meetings to gain more knowledge in a specific area.

Please call or text to determine a plan and set rates.
