My Story
My belief is that regardless of age, you are the person that knows you best. Therefore, you are the expert of your own life experiences. As the expert, your input and contributions are vital to the work that we do together. By taking a collaborative/eclectic approach, we will be able to identify your personal strengths that will help in creating a plan of action that will work best for you. The role of parents, caregivers, family, and other support people is important to consider in our work as they will be the ones to help you continue the work outside of our sessions.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) currently working towards my clinical license under the supervision of Stacey Brittain, LCSW-S. I received my B.S. in Behavioral Science from the University of Houston - Clear Lake and my Masters in Social Work from Baylor University. My professional experience in mental health has been working with adolescents (teens) and young adults (12yr. - late 20's) in residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings. I currently am a student support/crisis counselor for a local school district where I work with students, their families, and/or school staff and administration to identify the most appropriate supports for a student's academic and mental health needs.
My practice focuses on helping teens/young adults and their families (when appropriate) navigate the complexities of their interpersonal relationships with each other and the world around them. I have experience in working with individuals who struggle with complex trauma and mental health issues, suicidality, high risk behaviors (e.g. self-harm, running away/elopement, risky sexual behaviors, etc.) and oppositional/defiance.
In my spare time I love to spend time with family, friends and my animals. I also love dancing, working-out, cooking/eating, and listening to or watching true crime documentaries/podcasts.
